Description
A set of 18 pre-cut and pre-drilled balls for Bass Pans, for mounting on pans that have a 4″ flange. Includes mounting hardware.
To install these, you’ll need
- A Drill
- A 3/8″ Drill bit for drilling the mounting holes
- A 1/2″ Drill-bit for deburring the 3/8″ holes (top and bottom)
- A 9/16″ wrench (to fit 3/8-16 nuts)
- A 9/16″ socket (to fit 3/8-16 hex bolts)
- A place to work where you can make a mess
- Vacuum cleaner with hose to remove metal tailings from the inside of the bass pans
- A Marking Template
To make a Marking Template

- Cut a cardboard/paper circle, sized to fit inside the rim of the drum.
- Measure the diameter of the circle (we’ll call this d)
- (Refer to Figure 1). Calculate the radius of the circle (we’ll call this r). r = 0.5 x d
- Make a mark on the edge of the circle (we’ll call this point M1).
- (Refer to Figure 2). Using a ruler, mark 2 straight lines of length r from M1 to the nearest edges of the circle. These points will be M2 and M3. Do not measure around the circle, these are straight lines.
- From M2 and M3, measure two more straight lines of length r, to give points M4 and M5. M1, M4 and M5 are now equally spaced around the circle.
- (Refer to Figure 3) Draw lines from the center of the circle to M1, M4, and M5.
- (Refer to Figure 4) On these lines, mark points 1 3/4″ in from the edge of the circle. We’ll call these points A,B and C.
- A, B and C are where the holes should be drilled in the flange.
To install the feet
- Mark the positions of the holes using the template.
- Drill 3/8″ holes at these positions.
- Use the 1/2″ drill-bit to de-burr the inside and outside of the holes.
- Use the vacuum cleaner to thoroughly remove all the tailings that fell into the bass pan.
- Insert a flat washer into the counter-sunk hole on the bass foot. The flat washer is the smaller of the provided washers.
- Insert the bolt through the washer and then the foot, so that the bolt head is flush up against the flat washer and the threaded end of the bolt protrudes past the flat face of the foot.
- Place the protruding end of the bolt through the 3/8″ hole drilled into the flange of the pan in Step 2
- On the inside of the bass pan, place a fender washer and a lock-nut onto the bolt.
- Tighten down the bolt until the foot is comfortably seated on the flange. The foot should be slightly deformed by the pressure from the bolt, and it should not be possible to rotate the foot using your hands.
- DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN the bolt as this will tear the foot.
